Sir/Madam,
Adiyen Dasan Sridharan here. I need your advice with regard to my performing ‘Kolli’ and 13 days rituals for my widowed elder sister who died in July 2024.
My question is:
1. Whether any ‘theetu’ is applicable to our family, if so, what’s the total period applicable.
2. If theetu is there, Whether we can visit Divya desam temples or not.
Please advice.
Thanks & Regards,
Dasan Sridharan
Dasan,
I assume that you are belongs to brahmin family whatever it be the subsect.
Ans for 1. In general we can not say the number of days theetu for your whole family. Because theetu will be applicable for you for different matters of different relatives. So, you can see many clarifications already given in our website or you can ask for any particular event or matter.
Ans for 2: If theetu is there you can not even light lamp in your home pooja room. You have to skip all religious things till the end of theetu. Sandhyavandhanam is advised to do with 10 gayathris even in theetu.
